December Of The Month Awards!

DVD of the Month: Cinderella Man [Collector's Edition]
- I still don't know why this movie didn't do well in the theatres. I'm a big fan of the story [Read the book, Cinderella Man by Jeremy Schaap for the full details of Braddock and Baer. It's a really great sports book and written perfectly] and the movie does a really great job of portraying the life of the man. Does it glorify Braddock? Yeah. Does it deamonize Baer? I guess... But the movie's great. Almost - not quite, but almost as great as Rocky. But the Collector's Edition comes packed with the full, real reel footage of the fight, which is a nice throw in to a nice package.

TV Show of the Month: The Boondocks
- I've been a big fan of the comic strip since '00 or '01 - can't exactly remember when I first saw it. Always was funny and not just humerous, but actually laugh-out-loud funny. The show's just as great... sometimes misses a little, but there's always moments of greatness in each episode [The Trial of R. Kelly's probably the best one].

Book of the Month: The Art of War & On War
- Kind of cheating, but the book DOES have BOTH books in it. About the fifth time I've read over The Art of War - it really should be required reading in high school since it's so applicable to many facets of life. On War's not bad, either, if a bit dry... But still a great study on tactics.

E-Wrestling Fed of the Month: The Empire Wrestling Council
- Hey, it's back! And it's new! So of course the first two shows had wow moments and surprises, but also the storylines from the start are getting woven together nicely so that there's no one really left out [well, at least those who are working to get involved, of course].

November Of The Month Awards!

Ok, so I figured I'd give I'd check in again and give my "... Of The Month" awards for November... so here we go!

DVD of the Month: Layer Cake
- If you like movies with some plot twists and smart writing, check out Layer Cake. Great film that's always a couple steps ahead of you. Plus, the star of the movie [Daniel Craig] will be the new James Bond, so check him out in this film before he descends into the same old tired formula of every Bond film.

TV Show of the Month: My Name Is Earl
- Cause I said so! It's funny... yet so warming... er, uh...

Book of the Month: Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern Word
- Really an amazing read. The author does sort of fawn over the Mongol civilization a bit, but some of the way that the Mongols influenced culture's pretty amazing.

E-Wrestling Fed of the Month: Huron Valley Wrestling
- Please, like there'd be any other? It's A-1 in my book.

The Top Federations

Yeah, took a little while this week for this ranking to come out... Well, besides going back home and getting sick, just hadn't the time to get it in. Well, it's up! Enjoy! Next week [or... this week?] will be the last set of rankings for this four-week-cycle: Women and Juniors!

Rank: #1
Federation: RCW
Weeks: 62
Change: +1
Fed Champ: Juan Vasquez
Comments: RCW rolls high into it's next show - the big one - Glory. It's the fed's crown jewel of PPV's and it should be [as the kids say] 'off the hook'. Only one or two iffy matches slated, but the tag team Unholy War should be an awesome sight, the Super J-Crown match should be great, and the main... Well, that's match of the year even if it's not perfect.

Rank: #2
Federation: UWF
Weeks: 62
Change: -1
Fed Champ: "Doomsayer" Kyle Lee
Comments: UWF's Rise to Power PPV should be a contender for show of the year, definitely. A great line-up, even with a weakish main event [when compared to the other matches on the card]. It should be fun to see what direction the federation takes as a result of the match winners of the PPV.

Rank: #3
Federation: USJP
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed Champ: Blackout
Comments: Night of Champions proved to be great, showing that 2005 could be called the revival of wrestling. USJP's not for everyone, but when you take a look at their roster, there's not a real weak link in it. The Gauntlet's a fun match to look at a couple of times.

Rank: #4
Federation: EPW
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed Champ: None
Comments: USJP narrowly edged out EPW for the third spot, but I'd say the EL is right up there with them in quality. They've got some new faces like Mayfair, Sweets, and Hollywood by Night [among others] that will be house hold names by the end of the year, trust me on that.

Rank: #5
Federation: MLW
Weeks: 16
Change: -1
Fed Champ: Johnny Oakes
Comments: This was another tough call - it was either MLW or PPW. One's been taking a slide while the other's hot off the bat new... However, the Epochalypse PPV wasn't that bad [even with what I've said about the championship match ending], so I'm taking the Maple Leaf for this round. Next month may be a different story... Maybe not...

The Top 25

Well, here's the Top 25 singles wrestlers ranking that was promised. And, as you'll notice, on time! How 'bout that, eh? Eh?

Don't forget, leave you comments in the comments section of this posting and please, help a man out by clickin' them links on the side there for all my hard work? Would ya please? Thank ya.

Rank: #1
Wrestler: Juan Vasquez
Weeks: 63
Change: NC
Fed: RCW
Comments: The RCW Champ keeps rolling, but with the three-way main event announced, Vasquez has a big challenge in front of him - can he beat BOTH Desinty and Kinsey [and all the people and tricks they've got up their sleeves] to retain his title and keep his winning streak going?

Rank: #2
Wrestler: Shane Destiny
Weeks: 63
Change: NC
Fed: RCW
Comments: Has really showed more and more impressive work this year - both in the ring and on the mic. Many will focus on Vasquez vs. Kinsey for the three-way ME at Glory, but I think Destiny has the best shot of anyone to walk away with the RCW World Title.

Rank: #3
Wrestler: Scott Daniels
Weeks: 63
Change: +1
Fed: UWF
Comments: Forget who's in the Rise to Power main event - I'll be watching for the Scott Daniels/One-Winged Angel match where we'll see Daniels prevail and - hopefully - use the win as a shot back to his rightful place in the UWF main event. Oh, did I mention that it's MBC-rules, Ballbreaker Cage Match? And that Pride and Amity will sure to peak in? And that this will get ugly, fast? Hmm... Maybe not all that sure now of the win... Na, I believe in Daniels!

Rank: #4
Wrestler: Luke Kinsey
Weeks: 63
Change: -1
Fed: RCW/UWF
Comments: One of two men doing double duty for the top two feds... and, on Rise to Power, both will meet in what should be the show stealer. UWF's Martinez/Kinsey match, though, doesn't hold a candle to Glory's blockbuster PPV main event where we'll see three-forths of the core of the former Ego MAX go at it. With Langseth and Greene at Kinsey's side, there's a great chance he'll pull off the big win for his first World title.

Rank: #5
Wrestler: Alex Martinez
Weeks: 63
Change: -1
Fed: RCW/uWF
Comments: Martinez has seemed to find the killer instinct in RCW [just a shame he can't do the same in UWF?] and I forsee him thoroughly crushing Madison J. valentine at Glory to retain the River City title.

Rank: #6
Wrestler: Edmond Winston IV
Weeks: 10
Change: +1
Fed: UWF
Comments: The Billion Dollar Bastard has a tall order for Rise to Power: not only battle Kyle Lee for the UWF World Title, but also try to keep his & New Era's grip over UWF. My guess is that Winston's done some shopping for some "insurance" to keep either the power or trade it in for the gold.

Rank: #7
Wrestler: Heaven Lee Mayfair
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: EPW
Comments: In one of the more entertaining feuds in wrestling today against Billy Sweets, Mayfair and his manager Sinful have become the most entertaining product on the indy that's gaining steam in the South. Great on the mic everytime he's given time. His interactions with Hollywood by Night & Sinful all together are top notch. Definitely should one of the first to challenge for the EPW TV Title.

Rank: #8
Wrestler: "Dead End" Derek Martin
Weeks: 10
Change: -2
Fed: UWF
Comments: Martin shocked everyone when he did an about-face and joined up with Pride, making the group more powerful than any other UWF stable, but... Well, I don't know. Wouldn't a Martin v. Daniels feud be money in the bank for UWF? I see a turn at Rise to Power as Martin continues his rocketing up the UWF charts.

Rank: #9
Wrestler: "Bad Eye" McBaine
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: USJP
Comments: Same old McBaine - tear people's hearts out and using his sick and twisted mind to keep him on top... Oh, but wait! There's plenty of other sick & twisted individuals in USJP and they're gunning for him and the American Jisatsu Championship. In fact, make that seven other men, with Blackout and Leviticus Nelson leading the way...

Rank: #10
Wrestler: Jeff Kujawa
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: RCW
Comments: Yes, John Shock was ranked over Kujawa in the Junior rankings, but Kujawa's the better overall wrestler and has a better upside outside of the Junior division [see his time in GLCW]. But I guess we'll see at Glory just who the better man is when Kujawa takes on Shock for the semi-destroyed Super J-Crown.

Rank: #11
Wrestler: "Agony" Michael Augustine
Weeks: 10
Change: NC
Fed: UWF
Comments: Augustine's set to face off against Alex Extreme at Rise to Power, with the Youngblood's share of the fed on the line. Even though there's been bucket fulls of bad blood between the two, I think this will be one of the lesser violent matches on the card. Heck, we might even see an actual clean match here! I'll take Augustine retaining his Youngblood's 3% share and parlay that into a title shot sometime down the line.

Rank: #12
Wrestler: Danny Chayne
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: RCW
Comments: The 'roided freak has quite the chance to impress some folks come Glory time - this diamond in the rough has a chance to beat Mark Langseth at the Pay-Per-View. Chayne's power is out of this world, but he shouldn't underestimate Langseth as he's pulled out wins from many matches he had no way of prevailing at the start. Should Chayne win, look for a battle of the beasts possibly in a Martinez/Chayne feud.

Rank: #13
Wrestler: John Shock
Weeks: 10
Change: -2
Fed: RCW
Comments: The RCW Super J-Crown holder makes for a strong, good, all-around junior champ, but Shock's got to be even a little bit concerned that Kujawa's brother, Shane Destiny, is helping him now. Shock can beat an erratic, unstable Jeff Kujawa, but a clear headed and focused one? Well, that'll be quite a match...

Rank: #14
Wrestler: Grant Stone
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: EPW
Comments: Sickening and revolting, he's done nothing but bully and bloody his opponents since stepping foot in El Paso Wrestling. Current points leader for the TV Title, Stone doesn't seem to be all that concerned about winning the title... or, well, anything. No one can really tell what Stone's concerned about.

Rank: #15
Wrestler: Blackout
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: USJP
Comments: The so-called "Lone Horseman"'s looking for more revenge on McBaine at Night of Champions and has the determination to get the job done. This eight man match very well could boil down to a war between Blackout and McBaine, for the prize of the American Jisatsu Championship. I think, though, that Blackout would be satisfied just coming away from the match breaking McBaine in half.

Rank: #16
Wrestler: Abdul Oman Al Rippa
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: JJG
Comments: The Sword of God is mammoth and thusfar dominating JJG. He may be having a little trouble with The Judge currently, but Al Rippa's in a class of his own in the new federation and should be at the head of the class here for a good long while.

Rank: #17
Wrestler: "Fists of Fury" Billy Sweets
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: EPW
Comments: The top face of EPW is also one of the most entertaining wrestlers there - smart move that EPW's management placed Sweets in a feud with Mayfair right off the bat. Sweets may have to wait for that big match to happen as he's high up on the points list and may have to face Grant Stone for the TV Title first.

Rank: #18
Wrestler: Travis LaGrange
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: EPW/PPW
Comments: Ranked more for his EPW stuff with John Evangel Caviot [PPW's a little too new yet], LaGrange is showing why many have uttered his name as being one of the next big things in wrestling. Now that he's been given a big time chance in PPW, let's see if that holds true.

Rank: #19
Wrestler: Voodoo
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: USJP
Comments: He's uh... Well, unique? Clowns, uh... They scare me - psychotic clowns? Even worse. It's good to see the big damn evil homicidal clown thriving again. Chair, though, is no replacement for Voodoocito.

Rank: #20
Wrestler: "Doomsayer" Kyle Lee
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: UWF
Comments: The current UWF World Title holder... Now, I may get some backlash on this, but I just don't see how Lee's held onto the title this long. Currently, I think he's dampening the title and should drop it to Winston at Rise to Power or on the first Rampage after the PPV. Kyle Lee just doesn't do it for, but holding on to the title does deserve some credit...

Rank: #21
Wrestler: "No Nonsense" Tony Vendetta
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: WANA
Comments: Just who is Tony Vendetta? I WANA know that too! Ok, got that out of the way... Whoever Vendetta may be, he's shown signs of skills and experience to make him the cream of the crop in WANA. The build-up on who the "rookie" may be is just a nice added addition to already very good wrestler.

Rank: #22
Wrestler: Colby Greene
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: RCW
Comments: Young Colby Greene's toiled his time in UWF Eurasia and is now impresses folks in the land of the River City. Helps when you've recently buddied up to Club Elite's Luke Kinsey and Mark Langseth. Expect some great things out of the Bayou kid over the next couple of months.

Rank: #23
Wrestler: Johnny Oakes
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: MLW
Comments: Kind of won the MLW Heavyweight title, but really Braeden Baldwin won it for him by screwing Stevie Erickson out of the chance to grab the title atop the scaffolding. Oakes could make a good champ, but having your face win in that way, on the big comeback PPV? Got to say, that's not good booking. Let the man have the clean win and then have the Baldwin-Oakes payoff.

Rank: #24
Wrestler: JC Silk
Weeks: New
Change: NR
Fed: PCW
Comments: PCW's North American champ just barely survived against Vinnie Vasquez in the cage match on Shattered Dreams, but it seems to be only a matter of time before Silk falls to the power contained in The Outlaw Saints.

Rank: #25
Wrestler: Stevie Erickson
Weeks: New
Change: -10
Fed: MLW
Comments: Failed in his bid to win the Heavyweight Title at Epochalypse in... Well, probably one of the worst screwjobs seen in years. Erickson [and Rogers] should've gotten a clean ending. But oh well, that's the past and Erickson will get another chance at the title soon since he's at the top level of the fed.
